4 days!!!

I haven't posted mainly because I haven't ran. That's good considering this race is in 4 days!!! And, well, yes, overall I have not ran, but I have the last couple days.... you know, to make sure I still could.

Saturday I had high hopes of just running like 10 miles and it would be easy and fast and I would know I was able to do 13.1 the next week. But reality said, no freaking way. So I set my goal for 5. Then an hour went by and I still hadn't left to run, so that changed to 3. There was a reason to stalling all morning about running and that was the weather. I didn't leave until 1pm because that was supposed to be the warmest it was getting all day.... a balmy 30 degrees. Honestly though, for running, I don't mind that temperature. I do however mind the wind and freezing rain I suffered through!

I took the dog for this one and neither of us probably should have been outside. We made it our 3 miles (and a little extra for good measure) and then I took a bath. Still cold. Showered. Still cold. Drank tea, put on sweatpants and a blanket. Getting warmer. Pretty much, it was bad.

So naturally, I took the day off Sunday. The high was in the 50's for some reason? But the wind gusts were almost 40mph, so it didn't actually feel like 50.

Anyway, Monday rolls around and since I decided to join this running club and it was the first night, I kind of had no choice. The club is free, and it runs right by one of my friend's houses, so of course she had no excuse not to do it with me, and then we roped a third friend in too. Weeks ago, this sounded great! A little club that runs on Monday nights and finishes at a bar for when we're hungry and thirsty. Sounded too good to be true.

And it was.

Yesterday barely broke into the 20's and the wind chill temperatures were close to -10 degrees. Since this took place at 6:30pm you better believe it was as bad as it sounds. Maybe worse.

Once you get going though, it honestly warms up. You feel good... until you stop. Then you can't enjoy a pint and some finger foods because you can no longer feel your fingers. You will again shower, wear sweats, drink tea, cover in blankets, and your teeth will probably still chatter. The hardest part is re-hydrating. Does a cold glass of water really sound good at that moment? I think not.

In the end, we made it. And we kept to our promise. And made new friends. Who will now look for us every week, so that part worries me a little because as you can see I'm not so good at commitment.

We shall see though!

Goal is to get 4 miles in today and Thursday and then hope for the best Saturday!

Drinking plenty of water this week and eating lots of salads, etc. for an extra boost of h2o,

Wish me luck!

xoxo
